Germantown's Taylor Higginbotham has been selected as the top senior Defensive player as part of the WSN Senior Girls Basketball Awards

Higginbotham is a long and strong wing that is very good at reading offenses and anticipating passes.

Higginbotham, a 5-foot-10 wing, averaged 4.7 steals and 6.6 rebounds per game for coach Matt Stuve and the Warhawks.

Taylor reached 9 steals in two games this season, the first came in a win over Menomonee Falls on December and the second was in a victory against Homestead on January 9 when she finished one steal away from recording a triple-double.

The Western Illinois recruit is also very good offensively, averaging 18.1 points per game and connected on 60 three-pointers, both team-highs.

Germantown's season ended with loss to state-bound Arrowhead 53-47 in a Division 1 Regional Final.

Finalists for the award were Higginbotham, Vashti Nwagbaraocha of Pius XI, Hannah Settingsgaard of Oak Creek, Jenna Smarzinski of Kimberly, and Mollie Wedige of Cuba City.

Past winners of the award include Jen Wellnitz of Black Hawk (2014), Emily Gustafson of South Shore (2013), and Alexis Lindstrom of Howards Grove (2012).

WSN Senior Basketball Awards are selected by WisSports.net staff.
