Pius XI captures the Division 2 State Title with an undefeated record
Pius XI capped an undefeated season with a 54-36 win over Cedarburg in the Division 2 State Championship Game at the Resch Center in Green Bay.
Senior Gabby Green hit a three-pointer with 6:35 in the first quarter and the Lady Popes never trailed in the contest.
Green had an outstanding game, finishing with 20 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals. She went 5-for-13 from the floor, 8-for-13 from the free throw line, and 2-for-3 from behind the arc.
Senior Annie Staskunas totaled 8 points, fellow senior Vashti Nwagbaraocha and junior Katie Gardner each scored 7 points, and senior Olivia Freckmann added 6 points and 10 rebounds.
Cedarburg was led by junior Allie Barber who finished with 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 blocks.
Pius XI finishes the year with a 28-0 record and their second WIAA State Championship.
