Inside The Top Five

New to the top five this week is Oshkosh North at No. 5. The Spartans topped previous No. 5 Appleton North this week and are winners of four in a row.

The rest of the top five is unchanged. Arrowhead and Bay Port have been the No. 1 and No. 2 teams since the preseason. Arrowhead has a big matchup with Indian Trail on Wednesday (a makeup game from earlier in the year that we plan on covering) which will be their only Power 25 competition so far this year.

Janesville Craig and Denmark continue to take care of business. This week Denmark has two big conference matchups against No. 12 West De Pere and Craig will take on No. 21 Beloit Memorial.

New and Climbing

The highest new addition to the Power 25 is Kenosha Bradford. Some might balk at their 7-6 record but you have to look a little deeper into the Red Devils resume. Four of Bradford’s six losses come to out of state competition including three spring training losses in Florida and a double header split to Grant (IL). This week Bradford added two wins over Kenosha Tremper and improves to 7-2 in the state of Wisconsin.

River Falls made their way in thanks to a 9-2 record and a big win over No. 18 Eau Claire North last week with Adam LaRock on the mound. At No. 25 Neillsville makes their way into the Power 25 with an 11-0 record.

Aquinas and Lake Country Lutheran continue taking care of business. Both improve on their undefeated records and Aquinas leap frogged the Lightning and into the top ten this week due to their better resume wins over several Division 1 teams.

Oconomowoc moved to No. 11 with a win over then No. 7 Sun Prairie. The Racoons had a long week with five games, a testament to their pitching depth going 3-2 on the week.

No. 8 Jefferson also climbed into the top ten as several others fell this week. The Eagles are 10-2 on the year.

Down and Out

No. 7 Appleton North dropped two big ones this week, both to top 10 teams, Oshkosh North and Kimberly. The losses don’t hurt that bad but wins could have really cemented themselves inside the top five for a long time.

Tremper fell hard this week dropping six spots to No. 16. The Trojans lost two last week to Bradford who moved into the Power 25.

No. 20 Indian Trail and No. 19 Sun Prairie saw their stock plummet as both took hits to their resume last week. Indian Trail lost to Tremper for the second time this year, making it two of three games dropped to the Trojans. While Sun Prairie dropped two contests this week, once to then No. 13 Oconomowoc and a tough Verona Area team.
