Inside the Top Five

After going 3-0 this week, Janesville Craig (19-0) moves into the No. 1 spot heading into week eight as they will face the always tough Sun Prairie Cardinals, who look to be on the upswing after a successful weekend.

Arrowhead moved slightly up to No. 2 chalking up two close wins over No. 14 Oconomowoc on Saturday and went 4-0 on the week.

Bay Port slipped to No. 3 after dropping their first game in the state, losing to Sun Prairie on Saturday.

No. Denmark and No. 5 Kimberly round out the top five. Both teams lost a game last week to Menasha and Hortonville respectively.

New and Climbing

No. 10 Sun Prairie had a big weekend beating two Power 25 teams (No. 1 Bay Port and No. 12 Kenosha Bradford) in their own invitational tournament hosted at Summit Field. Getting to see the Cardinals in person over the weekend proved to that they will be tough to beat come playoff time. Ass we’ve stated in their preseason preview, Sun Prairie is one of the best coached teams in the state and they are constantly putting added pressure on opposing teams.

Hortonville looks to be back to their winning ways winning 9 of their last 10, with the only loss to No. 6 Oshkosh North. Hortonville jumped nine spots to No. 15.

Ellsworth continues to go unbeaten, at 15-0 the Panthers leaped six spots to No. 13.

Eau Claire North and Prescott found their way back into the Power 25 at No. 23 and No. 24 respectively.

Down and Out

Aquinas lost their first contest of the year to Riverdale on Thursday. The Blugolds are now 19-1 and have enough of a resume that the loss does not hurt them too bad and holds on at No. 8.

Oconomowoc had a rough week losing three on the week, a close double header to No. 3 Arrowhead and lost to Hartford earlier in the week. Oconomowoc barely holds on to a Power 25 spot at No. 25.

Indian Trail continues their up and down season. Last week they lost twice to Kenosha Bradford and fell ten spots to No. 19.

Beloit Memorial had another tough week losing to Verona and Madison Memorial, falling out of the Power 25.
