WSN Senior Baseball Awards: Outfielder Finalists

Wisconsin Sports Network is proud to showcase the 2015 WSN Senior Baseball Awards.

The pre-season watch list has been trimmed down to five finalists. Winners are announced the week of the spring baseball state tournament.

WSN Senior Baseball Awards -- Outfielder Finalists:

Zach Abfall, Bay Port – Abfall has helped the Pirates back to the WIAA State Tournament after receiving unanimous First Team All-Conference recognition in the FRCC. The left-handed hitting Abfall batted .411 as a senior, with 17 RBI, 32 runs scored, and 16 walks.

Shane Coker, Athens – A First Team All-State choice last year, Coker may have been even better in 2015. He hit an amazing .694 (34 for 49) with a .766 on-base percentage, as teams simply walked him in nearly 1/3 of his at-bats. He produced 28 RBI while scoring 32 times, posting a .939 slugging percentage. He also went 6-1 on the mound.

Sam Hawley, Oshkosh North – A repeat First Team All-Conference choice in the FVA, Hawley was a catalyst for the Spartans all season. He batted .360 with a .461 on-base percentage, as his patience at the plate paid off. On the bases, he recorded 18 steals, helping him score 21 runs in 26 games to go with 15 RBI.

Jared Hoerter, Kenosha Indian Trail – A speedy centerfielder that chases down most anything hit in his direction, Hoerter has helped the Hawks to the WIAA State Tournament. He hit .434 this season, with 17 extra-base hits. Hoerter knocked in 26 runs, scored 41, and had 18 steals, all while playing outstanding defense.

Noah Robinson, Green Bay East/West – The co-op program took a big step forward this year, with Robinsin playing a significant role. A unanimous First Team All-Conference selection, Robinson hit .444 at the dish. He also recorded 8 stolen bases while playing superb outfield defense.
