Janesville Craig wasn't perfect in the Division 1 championship game, but they were close enough to cap off a 2-0 victory over Kimberly and claim the school's fourth spring baseball title.

Darn near close to perfect could describe the Cougars' season in general, as just a 6-2 loss to Sun Prairie rests in the right hand column of their win/loss table, with 29 victories on the left.

A tight, low-scoring affair was the perfect way to cap off a thrilling state championship Thursday, as the two-run differential was the only game that didn't get decided by just one run.

Both starting pitchers, Tanner Haessly of Kimberly and Nick Cramer of Janesville Craig, did outstanding work early on, as neither team was able to push across a run in the first four innings.

In the top of the 5th, Kimberly threatened, putting runners on 2nd and 3rd with two outs. Cramer got Bryce Swick to line out to left to end the threat however. In the bottom half of the inning, Craig finally broke through when leadoff hitter McCauley Cox singled home a pair of runs with the bases loaded.

Nick Blomgren came in in relief for Craig, and closed the door the rest of the way to secure the victory. Kimberly was not without it's chances however, leaving a man on base in six of the seven innings.

It is the first title for Janesville Craig since 1998, while Kimberly takes home a second straight runner-up trophy, and third since 2008.
