Girls WBCA All-Star Games: South goes 4-1

The 38th Annual Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Games were held in Wisconsin Dells on Friday, June 19th at the JustAgame Fieldhouse. 

South won four of the five girls WBCA All-Star games. 

Division 1: North 80, South 67

North outscored South 43-27 in the second half to earn a 80-67 victory at JustAgame Fieldhouse in Wisconsin Dells. Manitowoc Lincoln's Alyssa Fischer, a UW-Milwaukee recruit, finished with a game-high 18 points for the North, including 4-for-6 from behind the arc. Marshfield's Caitlin Michaelis, a MN-Crookston recruit, tallied 14 points, Middleton's Elizabeth Norregaard added 13 points, and D.C. Everest's Taylor Hodell, a Michigan Tech recruit, chipped in 10 points. Germantown's Taylor Higginbotham, a Western Illinois recruit, finished with a team-high 12 points and 12 rebounds for the South squad. 

Division 2: South 78, North 56

South led by just 4 points entering the fourth quarter before outscoring the North squad 29-11 and winning 78-56. New Berlin Eisenhower's Sammy Kozlowski, a Minnesota-Duluth recruit, scored a team-high 15 points, including going 4-for-6 from behind the arc for the South squad. Waukesha North's Jessica Kelliher, a Lewis University recruit, and Pius XI's Vashti Nwagbaraocha each added 11 points, while Ashley Reed, a MN-State Mankato recruit, chipped in 10 points. Green Bay Southewest's Natisha Hiedeman, a Marquette recruit, and New Richmond's Hannah Simpson each finished with 15 points for the North squad. 

Division 3: South 74, North 60

South used a 18-7 second quarter to get past the North 74-60. Kettle Moraine Lutheran's Kari Schneiss and Lodi's Taylor Baker, a UW-Milwaukee walk-on, each scored 13 points for the South squad. Durand's Morganne Gruber, a St. Thomas recruit, scored a game-high 14 points for the North. 

Division 4: South 68, North 60

South jumped out to a 20-7 lead after the first quarter and held on to earn a 68-60 victory over the North. Cuba City's Molly Wedige led the South with 14 points and 14 rebounds. St. Mary's Springs' Kelli Schrauth, a Cardinal Stritch recruit, finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds, while Aquinas' Chelsea Ritter tallied 10 points and 7 rebounds in the win. Brillion's Alaina Beimborn scored a team-high 13 points for the North. 

Division 5: South 86, North 72

South used a 22-9 second quarter advantage to topple the South 86-72. Bangor's Morgan Horseman, a UW-Platteville recruit, finished with a game-high 21 points and added 11 rebounds in the win. Seneca's Taylor Redman contributed 16 points, including going 5-for-12 from behind the arc. Blair-Taylor's Mara Peterson (13 points), Wayland Academy's Jade Ramirez (10 points), and Hilbert's Erica Gehl (10 points) also reached double figures. South Shore's Megan Gustafson, a Iowa recruit and state's all-time leading scorer, finished with a team-high 18 points and 16 rebounds for the North squad.
