We've got a first time champion in the Small School Division of the WSN Cup, but familiar faces are on top of the Large and Medium School Divisions.

Arrowhead's dominance of the Large Schools Division continued, as the Warhawks claimed an 8th trophy in the eight years of the award. Madison Edgewood was a repeat champion in the Medium Schools Division, while Saint Mary's Springs captured the Small Schools trophy for the first time ever.

The WSN Cup is in its eighth year, recognizing schools that provide and achieve success in many of the WIAA sponsored sports. The award totals points earned in both boy's and girl's sports. All current WIAA sponsored sports with the exception of summer baseball are included as part of the scoring for the award.

Full Standings can be found here.

Large School Division

Arrowhead amassed what proved to be an insurmountable lead after the fall sports, when they scored a record 550 points. A strong winter season and solid spring sports showing wrapped things up once again.

While the Warhawks scored at least 10 points in all seven spring sports and captured a boys golf title, they had several teams come up short of where they'd hoped, and finished just fourth among Large Schools in the spring, though most schools would love to score 190 points in an entire year, let alone one season. Arrowhead teams to capture state titles this year included girls tennis, girls swimming/diving (pictured), and boys golf. Runner-up finishes also came from football and girls golf.

In the overall standings, Middleton again came in in second place with an outstanding 810.33 points, which is one of the top overall scores of all time, and would have won last year's Large School title, when they fell to Arrowhead by just 3 points.

Congratulations to the Warhawks and Athletic Director Kevin Flegner.

In addition to Middleton, the rest of the top five in the Large Schools Division was Kimberly (571 points), Cedarburg (537.6), and Stevens Point (513.7).

Medium School Division

After being displaced at the top of the Medium School standings by Notre Dame from 2010-2013, the Madison Edgewood Crusaders have won back-to-back WSN Cup trophies.

Edgewood was a wire to wire leader, sitting on top of the standings after the fall, winter, and spring sports. A solid spring showing with 280 points helped wrapped things up, with runner-up finishes from boys tennis and boys golf, along with excellent seasons by girls track and girls soccer.

Back in the fall, Edgewood got yet another state title from the girls golf team (pictured), a runner-up finish by girls tennis and girls swimming/diving, plus significant points from the boys cross country and boys soccer squads.

Rivals Notre Dame (651.1) and Catholic Memorial (563.2) were next in the standings, but neither could catch the Crusaders of Edgewood.

Congratulations to the Crusaders and Athletic Director Chris Zwettler.

In addition to Notre Dame and Catholic Memorial, the rest of the top five consisted of Whitefish Bay (549) and Mount Horeb (485).

Small School Division

For the second straight year, we have a first time champion atop the Small School standings. After University School of Milwaukee ended Aquinas' run of six consecutive titles last year, Saint Mary's Springs moves to the top in 2014-15.

It was by a very slim margin, as Aquinas nearly returned to re-claim the top spot. In fact, in one of the last days of the entire sports year, Aquinas lost a 2-run lead in the baseball state title game to Lake Country Lutheran, and if the Blugolds had held on, they would have won the WSN Cup trophy. Instead, Springs' 459.1 points was enough to edge Aquinas' 444.9.

Springs scored 230 of their points in the spring, as the boys golf team won a state title, while girls track was a runner-up. The Ledgers scored at least 10 points in all seven spring sports. The biggest contribution during the fall came from yet another football state title (pictured).

Congratulations to the Ledgers and Athletic Director Kyle Krueger.

In addition to Aquinas, the rest of the top five consisted of Marathon (431), Regis (343), and University School (305).

Congratulations to the winners and a great job by all the teams during an outstanding and exciting 2014-15 sports season.

Look for the WSN Cup to appear in the winning school's trophy cases this fall.
