Prep Props - Week 1

Prep Props is our weekly look at the best individual statistical performances in the state, with the leaders in rushing yards, passing yards, and receiving yards. Prep Props is published every Monday morning.

Week 1 Rushing Leaders

Edgerton is no stranger to big-time running backs, as Ricky Williams was one of the best in the state the last couple years. His graduation opened up an opportunity for someone to step in, which is exactly what senior Micah Rudd did. After limited carries last year, he broke out in a big way in Week 1, going for 423 yards and 7 touchdowns on 30 carries as the Tiders held off New Glarus/Monticello 48-34. His 423 yards is 10th on the state's single-game rushing list.

Week 1 Passing Leaders

The Big Eight has turned into the old WAC apparently, as four of the top six passers in Week 1 came from the conference. That includes leading passer Emmett Enright of Madison Memorial. He shared time a bit last year, but is the man this season. While the Spartans came up short in a 54-40 loss to Madison East, Enright threw for 465 yards and 5 touchowns while completing 25 of 50 passes. Three of those scoring throws went to junior Jake Ferguson, who has an offer from Wisconsin as a linebacker/h-back prospect, who reeled in 5 passes for 149 yards. Enright also led the team with 36 rushing yards and another score on the ground.

Week 1 Receiving Leaders

Friday night's crossover game between Badger Conference heavyweights Mount Horeb/Barneveld and Monona Grove was everything we hoped it would be, with the visiting Silver Eagles of MG holding on for a 27-20 victory. There were some big offensive numbers put up by both teams, including MHB's passing attack. Quarterback Max Meylor threw for 406 yards, with much of it going to junior Jackson Rose, who caught 8 passes for 202 yards and a touchdown.
