The Oshkosh North Spartans have been selected as the Week 1 WisSports.net Team of the Week following a statewide vote on WSN. The team defeated perennial playoff contender Appleton North to start the season, in overtime no less. The Spartans were chosen from a strong group of nominees in Week 1. A total of 2,145 votes were cast, as North's 699 votes edged Bloomer's 491.

After back-to-back VFA-South Conference titles, including a D2 runner-up finish in 2013, Oshkosh North had some considerable holes to fill due to graduation heading into 2015. Any questions about how the Spartans would compete in the league were answered quickly in a 35-32 overtime win in a non-conference crossover against traditional power Appleton North. Tyler Kujawa threw for 149 yards and a pair of scores, while Eliot Dittmer rushed 34 times for 162 yards and two touchdowns. It was Dittmer's 9-yard scoring plunge in overtime that sealed the deal.

Remember folks, the only way your favorite team can be named WSN Team of the Week is to vote and share the word. Look for the Week 2 nominees to be posted Monday afternoon.
