Week 2 WisSports.net Coaches Poll

Week 1 WisSports.net Coaches Poll

Please note, divisional placement in our poll is based on our Enrollment Projections done earlier this year. Divisional placement in the WIAA playoffs is not determined until after the season and these projections can and will be different than the divisions at the end of the year. We have added an 8-Man Coaches Poll this season.

Division 1

No surprise at the top, as Kimberly continues on as the #1 team in Division 1. After surviving a scare from Hudson, Arrowhead remains in the 2nd position, followed by Franklin. Marquette's loss to Loyola Academy (IL) dropped them from #4 to #9 this week. Hudson, who held a 27-7 second half lead on Arrowhead, moves into the rankings this week at #10 after that game, while Mukwonago's loss to Oak Creek drops the Indians out of the poll.

Division 2

While Waukesha West retains the top spot in the Division 2 Coaches Poll, the gap between the Wovlerines, defending champion Menasha, and third-ranked Menomonie is razor-thin. All three teams received at least one #1 vote this week. Germantown's shutout loss to Catholic Memorial resulted in the Warhawks tumbling from #4 to out of the rankings this week, in what is a very deep division. Oshkosh North, Whitefish Bay, and Hortonville also suffered defeats, falling out of the poll as well. Newcomers this week include Homestead (#6), Ashwaubenon (#8), Superior (#9), and Brookfield East (#10).

Division 3

Catholic Memorial was incredibly impressive in a 28-0 shutout of D2 #4 Germantown, solidifying its spot at the top. In a close vote, Rice Lake edged ahead of Monona Grove for the #2 position, though both teams have been very impressive thus far this season. Pewaukee fell from #4 to out of the poll this week after a loss to Wisconsin Lutheran, who moved up one spot to 7th. Xavier's victory over Seymour pushed the Hawks into the rankings at #6. Freedom is also a new team in the rankings this week at #9.

Division 4

Lodi is still a strong #1 choice in Division 4, but Bloomer's run in the #2 position didn't last long, as a 13-8 loss to Lakeland dropped the Blackhawks to #7. Wrightstown moves up to 2nd, while Spencer/Columbus Catholic's win over Stanley-Boyd moves them all the way from 10th to 3rd. A second loss by defending state champion Somerset drops the Spartans out, while Big Foot went down as well and dropped out of the rankings. Little Chute and Lake Mills are new teams in this week.

Division 5

Amherst's impressive victory over D6 #1 Saint Mary's Springs kept them atop the poll, though Arcadia, the #2-ranked team, did steal a few #1 votes. Stanley-Boyd (#3) and Lancaster (#4) both went down in Week 2, falling to 6th and 7th respectively. Cedar Grove-Belgium got a win and a loss last week, as they found out they'd have to forfeit a Week 1 victory over Kohler/Sheboygan Christian/Lutheran, then later knocked off a very good Ozaukee team. When the dust settled, the Rockets came in at #5 this week.

Division 6

Edgar took over the top spot in the Division 6 Coaches Poll from Saint Mary's Springs, but the Ledgers did get a couple #1 votes despite a loss to Amherst. Springs did hold onto the #2 position, followed by Darlington, Athens, and Cuba City. The Cubans are coming off a 39-7 domination of defending D5 champion Lancaster, which moved them from unranked to the 5th spot.

Division 7

Pepin/Alma is a near unanimous #1 team in the Division 7 rankings. Last week's #2 team, defending champion Owen-Withee, suffered a 28-15 loss to Loyal and dropped completely out of the rankings. Catholic Central takes over the #2 spot, followed by Bangor, Ithaca, and Almond-Bancroft. Black Hawk and Cambria-Friesland are new teams in this week's poll.

8-Man Football

Unfortunately, due a lack of voting participation, we had to cancel the 8-Man poll for this week. Please encourage coaches to vote in the Coaches Poll so that we can bring it back in the future.
