Noah Severin of Xavier has been selected as the Week 2 Air National Guard Player of the Week following a statewide vote on WisSports.net. Severin's efforts on defense allowed the Hawks to score a victory over Seymour on a night when the offense struggled a bit. He was chosen from a strong group of nominees in Week 2. A total of 7976 votes were cast, as Severin's 3440 were enough to edge second place Josh Karfonta of Catholic Memorial, who tallied 3005.

In tough weather conditions and against a very good Seymour defense, the Xavier offense struggled, posting just 115 total yards. Thankfully, the Hawks defense came to the rescue, limiting Seymour to 125 yards. Severin, one of 11 senior starters, picked off three Thunder passes, returning two of them for touchdowns. The first came in the second quarter to give Xavier a 16-0 lead, while the final score put the Hawks up 24-0 in the fourth quarter.

Severin and his Xavier teammates will have to be just as good in Week 3, as the Hawks take on defending Division 2 state champion Menasha.

Remember folks, the only way your favorite player can be named Air National Guard Player of the Week is to vote and share the word. Look for the Week 3 nominees to be posted Monday afternoon.
