The Franklin Sabers have been selected as the Week 2 WisSports.net Team of the Week following a statewide vote on WSN. The team put a running clock on Greendale, scoring a 37-0 victory. The Sabers were chosen from a strong group of nominees in Week 2. A total of 2,255 votes were cast, as Franklin's 844 votes edged Spencer/Columbus Catholic's 706.

Franklin more than lived up to the lofty pre-season expectations, not only defeating Greendale in Week 2 but shutting out the Panthers 37-0. It was a bit of sweet revenge after Greendale had beaten the Sabers the previous two seasons. Ben Wachter and Max Alba combined to go 12 of 20 through the air with 186 yards and 3 touchdowns, while Gavin Boeck led a balanced rushing effort that put up 165 yards. Franklin's defense picked off Greendale's Michael Jankowiak four times, including a 53-yard interception return for a touchdown by Wachter.

Remember folks, the only way your favorite team can be named WSN Team of the Week is to vote and share the word. Look for the Week 3 nominees to be posted Monday afternoon.
