Air National Guard Week 3 Player of the Week Nominees:

Jake Capstran, DeForest - With All-Conference running back Jadon Sackman largely bottled up by the Reedsburg defense, DeForest turned to the outside for some big plays. Capstran caught 6 passes for 184 yards and a pair of touchdowns, including an improbable game-winner in the waning seconds of a tie game. With DeForest facing a 3rd and 10 from its own 1-yard line with under a minute to play, Capstran caught a short pass and broke several tackles, tip-toed along the sideline, and took it the distance for a 99-yard touchdown with just 26 seconds remaining, giving the Norskies a 26-20 victory.

Michael Chorowicz, Kohler/Sheb. Lutheran/Christian - Kohler/Sheboygan Lutheran/Christian moved to 3-0 (received forfeit win vs Cedar Grove-Belgium in Week 1 after CGB used an ineligible player) on the season with a 33-26 victory over Mishicot Friday night. The co-op program is just one conference win away from being playoff-eligible, as it has never made the playoffs as a co-op. None of the teams in the co-op have made the playoffs since Kohler did so in 1999. The performance by Michael Chorowicz against Mishicot was outstanding, as he hauled in 7 receptions for a state-best 258 yards and 4 touchdowns. He also recorded 11 solo tackles and an interception on defense, while adding a 50-yard kickoff return (not for a TD) as well.

Sam Leibbrand, Whitewater - There are a number of ways to score a touchdown in high school football, and Leibbrand checked off several of them in a key 32-22 Whippets victory over McFarland Friday night. He started things off with an 85-yard interception return for a score in the first quarter, adding a 26-yard receiving touchdown in the second. After another touchdown catch in the third quarter, he returned a fumble 29 yards for a score in the 4th to help seal the deal. He finished with 5 catches for 98 yards and 2 touchdowns, ran it once for 7 yards, added 4 tackles on defense, and saw his only punt of the game downed inside the 20 yard line.

Kyle Pulvermacher, Benton/Scales Mound (IL) - If you didn't know that Pulvermacher is the state's leading rusher through three weeks of the season, well, you do now. He's a big reason the resurgent Zephyrs are 3-0 on the year, including 2-0 in the Six Rivers. They were in trouble Friday night though, trailing Shullsburg 34-22 at the end of the third. Pulvermacher scored a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns, leading the Zephyrs to a 38-34 comeback victory. He finished the game with 28 carries for 230 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Alex Robbins, Marathon - Marathon took advantage of several Stratford turnovers to score a 33-14 victory Friday night, moving to 3-0 on the season. Robbins helped salt the game away, with a pair of touchdown runs in the fourth quarter. His big-play ability was on full display, as he finished with 153 yards and 3 touchdowns on just 12 carries. He also added 11 tackles on defense.
