Howie Leuschen of Hayward has been selected as the Week 4 Air National Guard Player of the Week following a statewide vote on WisSports.net. Leuschen is the state's top rusher through 4 weeks, and came up huge in a win over Northwestern. He was chosen from a strong group of nominees in Week 4. A total of 4858 votes were cast, as Leuschen's 1874 were enough to edge second place Keonte Schad of Madison East, who tallied 1306.

The Hayward Hurricanes found themselves trailing Northwestern 38-26 in the 3rd quarter of Friday night's Heart O'North Conference game. As they've done all year, the Hurricanes turned to standout running back Howie Leuschen to help bring them back. Leuschen ran for a 75-yard touchdown score to pull within striking distance later in the third, then plunged into the end zone from a yard out in the 4th quarter to help secure a 40-38 win. He carried the ball 39 times for 341 yards, scoring 3 touchdowns. Leuschen is now on top of the state's rushing list with 943 yards on the season.

Remember folks, the only way your favorite player can be named Air National Guard Player of the Week is to vote and share the word. Look for the Week 5 nominees to be posted Monday afternoon.
