The Beloit Turner Trojans have been selected as the Week 7 WisSports.net Team of the Week following a statewide vote on WSN. The team beat Brodhead/Juda for the first time in 24 years, likely securing its first playoff appearance since 1992. The Trojans were chosen from a strong group of nominees in Week 7. A total of 4,290 votes were cast, as Turner's 1,956 votes votes narrowly edged G-E-T's 996.

The Trojans have not made the playoffs since 1992, one of the longest postseason droughts in the state, but that could all change in 2015 thanks to a program-defining 44-43 victory over Brodhead/Juda. The win makes Turner playoff-eligible and almost certain to advance to the postseason, and marks the first win over Brodhead/Juda since 1991. The team lost starting quarterback Seth Smith to an injury last week, and the back-up was not allowed to play due to a violation of team rules. Juan Reyes did not practice at quarterback all week, and stepped in during pre-game warm-ups, but did an admirable job. He threw a touchdown pass and ran 20 times for 186 yards and 3 touchdowns out of a Wildcat-type offense, recording 17 tackles on defense as well.

Remember folks, the only way your favorite team can be named WSN Team of the Week is to vote and share the word. Look for the Week 8 nominees to be posted Monday afternoon.
