Air National Guard Week 8 Player of the Week Nominees:

Jack Dunn, Madison Edgewood - A statline of 37 carries for 363 yards and 7 touchdowns is incredibly impressive for any player. For a quarterback to do it is unprecedented. In a 48-39 victory over Fort Atkinson that kept the team's playoff hopes alive, that's the performance turned in by Madison Edgewood quarterback Jack Dunn. It sets a new state record for most rushing yards in a single game by a quarterback, and his 7 touchdowns ties a state record for any player.

Mitchell Gnadt, Greendale - Sophomore quarterback Mitchell Gnadt has only been the full-time starter for six games, but the Panthers are 6-0 during that time, as he has helped bring an explosive element back to the team's offense. Never was that more on display than in a Week 8 48-17 win over Whitnall in a Woodland Conference crossover game. He completed 15 of 28 passes for 444 yards and 7 touchdowns. That's an incredible 15.9 yards per attempt and 29.6 yards per completion. His 7 passing touchdowns ties for second on the state's all-time single-game list.

Mark Nellen, Lodi - The Blue Devils had not been challenged this year prior to Week 8, giving up just 10 points all season. However, thanks to a pair of long touchdown passes in the second quarter, Lakeside Lutheran led Lodi 17-10 at halftime of an important Capitol-North showdown of ranked teams. However, Nellen ripped off a pair of touchdown runs in the third quarter to help rally the Blue Devils for a 31-17 victory to remain undefeated. He finished with 32 carries for 254 yards and 3 touchdowns, adding a couple tackles from his linebacker spot as well. Lodi faces fellow unbeaten Columbus in Week 9 for the league title and likely top seed in the playoffs.

John Ross Linscheid, Highland - The Cardinals needed a victory to keep their playoff hopes alive, and despite trailing by at least 19 points three different times, rallied for a 56-49 victory over Shullsburg, scoring 42 points in the second half. Linscheid accounted for all six second half scores, finishing the day with 29 carries for 317 yards and 6 touchdowns on the ground. He also threw for 123 yards and a touchdown as the team piled up more than 500 yards of total offense. Highland, with one of the smallest enrollments in the state at just 73 students, can become playoff-eligible with a victory over Benton/Scales Mound (IL) in Week 9.

Seth Wilson, Holmen - Averaging more than 5 yards per carry is pretty impressive at any level. If you get into double figures per rush, it's an outstanding accomplishment. For junior fullback Seth Wilson of Holmen, he took it a step further, carrying the ball just 13 times but posting 221 yards and 5 touchdowns, an average of 17 yards per attempt, as the Vikings beat Onalaska 40-17 to remain tied with La Crosse Logan at the top of the MVC standings. His touchdown runs went for 52, 3, 47, 9, and 74 yards.
