WisSports.net Week 8 Team of the Week Nominees:

Bonduel - The Bears needed to win one of their final two games to secure a spot in the WIAA playoffs, and got it out of the way in Week 8 with an impressive 36-33 overtime victory against Shiocton. Bonduel scored the victory despite being out-gained 332-208 in total yards. A 76-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Jordan Boldt and a 48-yard fumble return for a score by Blake Stoss helped make up the difference. In the overtime period, Shiocton scored on its first possession on a 30-yard field goal, but Trevor Peterson ran for a 3-yard touchdown to give Bonduel a walk-off victory.

Coleman - The Cougars were chasing a second straight Marinette & Oconto Conference title Friday night when they travelled to second-place Peshtigo. Coleman left with a 21-7 victory and perfect 8-0 record on the season. Austin Tachick caught a touchdown and ran for another, while quarterback Blake Margis had a passing score and rushing touchdown.

Homestead - American Beauty won the Academy Award for Best Picture. The St. Louis Rams won the Super Bowl. "Breathe" by Faith Hill was the #1 song on the Billboard charts. And I was starting my junior year of college. Those were the storylines in the year 2000, the last season that Homestead did not win at least a share of the North Shore Conference title. Since then, they've secured 14 consecutive championships, and Friday night kept alive their hopes of extending it to 15. The Highlanders got up early and pulled away from Whitefish Bay for a 35-13 victory, the first league defeat of the season for the Blue Dukes. Matt Winters carried 20 times for 165 yards and 3 touchdowns, while Eric Zoeller added 101 rushing yards and a touchdown, with 101 passing yards and a score as well. There is still work to do, as Homestead needs to beat Cedarburg in Week 9 to secure a share of the title.

Prairie du Chien - The Blackhawks last playoff appearance came in 2010, and their last conference title was way back in 1988. That all changes in 2015 however. Already guaranteed a spot in the postseason, Prairie du Chien hosted league heavyweight and defending Division 5 state champion Lancaster Friday night with a lot on the line. Lancaster led 29-26 at halftime, but the teams couldn't get anything going in the third quarter. A Prairie du Chien field goal with 7:40 remaining in the game tied it up, and that's when things got crazy. Lancaster scored a pair of touchdowns in less than a minute and a half of game action to go up 43-29 with 3:14 left, but the Blackhawks didn't give up. Casey Hogenson returned the kickoff for a touchdown, and Dominic Wright scored from a yard out to pull within 43-42 with 59 seconds left. Prairie du Chien went for the win, and converted on the two-point pass to score a 44-43 win over Lancaster and secure at least a share of the SWC title.

Prairie Farm - Prairie Farm was the unofficial 8-Man Football state champion last year, beating Green Bay NEW Lutheran in the 8-Man Jamboree to finish undefeated. Their opponent on Saturday was a powerhouse from the state of Michigan. Lawrence (MI) is the defending champion in Michigan's 8-Man division and entered unbeaten and top-ranked. Prairie Farm jumped out front right away on a 61-yard touchdown run from Quinn Larson in the 1st quarter, and never trailed en route to a 38-22 victory. Larson finished with 177 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground, while Mike Slagel added 182 yards and a pair of scores as well.
