Air National Guard Week 9 Player of the Week Nominees:

Justin Czech, Chippewa Falls -- It was a thrilling back-and-forth affair, but Chippewa Falls found itself trailing unbeaten Rice Lake 30-17 with just over three minutes remaining the game Friday night. Czech, who threw a Pick-6 early in the third quarter, helped rally the Cardinals however, throwing a pair of short touchdown passes in less than two minutes, then completing the game-winning two-point conversion pass go give ChiHi a 31-30 victory and a share of the Big Rivers title.

Logan Peterson, Somerset -- Defending Division 4 state champion Somerset saw its playoff hopes on life support after losing to Amery in Week 8, and for the Spartans to have any hope of getting back to the postseason, they'd need to beat Baldwin-Woodville and get some help. It worked out in their favor, thanks to a 27-18 victory that saw Peterson carry the ball 33 times for 267 yards and a pair of touchdowns, including a 3-yard scoring plunge midway through the fourth quarter that sealed the deal.

Ben Meier, Medford -- Meier shook off three interceptions to rally the Raiders from a 21-7 deficit in the fourth quarter to a 27-21 victory that secured a share of the Great Northern Conference title. He accounted for three touchdowns in the fourth quarter, each coming in very different fashion. The first was a 7-yard pass to Josh Thiede. The second was a 99-yard completion to Mikel Delzer, who finished with 7 catches for 232 yards. Meier added a 1-yard scoring plunge with just 20 seconds left to secure the win. He finished 16 of 30 for 363 yards and a pair of touchdowns to go with the single rushing score.

Collin Moen, Lake Mills -- Lake Mills may have been eliminated from postseason contention, but the L-Cats could play spoiler against crosstown rival Lakeside Lutheran, who needed a win to get in the playoffs. Moen was everywhere, and too much for Lakeside to overcome, as Lake Mills posted a dominating 55-22 victory. Moen completed 12 of 16 passes for 194 yards and 2 touchdowns, ran for 139 yards and 4 scores, recorded 3 interceptions on defense, ran one of those interceptions back for a touchdown, recovered a fumble that led to an L-Cat score, and averaged 37.8 yards per punt.

Fabias Shipman, Delavan-Darien -- The Comets found themselves in a precarious position Friday night, needing to beat Wilmot, who entered 7-1, to have any shot at the postseason, and even then the chance was 50/50 at best. Things went south quickly, and Delavan-Darien found themselves down 34-6 with about 8 minutes left in the fourth quarter. Shipman played a big role in one of the most miraculous comebacks of all-time, scoring two of the team's five touchdowns in a span of seven minutes of game action, as Delavan-Darien actually went up 40-34 before Wilmot tied it at 40 to send the game to overtime. In the second extra period, Shipman scored from 4 yards out for what turned out to be the game-winning touchdown in a 47-40 victory. He finished with 24 carries for 128 yards and 4 touchdowns.
