Wisconsin Sports Network and WisSports.net are happy to announce Kimberly's Jordan Janssen as the 2015 recipient of the Al Toon Award as the most outstanding senior wide receiver in Wisconsin, part of the WSN Senior Football Awards.

Janssen was a rotational player last year, accounting for just 9 catches and 113 yards. He has blown up as a senior however, leading the state in receiving yards much of the season. Through 13 games, he has 60 catches for 1,388 yards (23 ypc) with 15 touchdowns.

A First Team All-Conference selection, Janssen is also an outstanding blocker for the Papermakers run game. He recently was named to the WFCA All-State team as well.

“Jordan has tremendous size for a receiver, he has an unbelievable ability to attack the ball in the air, and he has the breakaway speed to turn a short catch into a long touchdown,” said head coach Steve Jones.

Finalists for the award were Janssen, Mitchell Gerend of Southern Door, Marquis Reuter of Sun Prairie, Michael Richter of Ozaukee, and Dale Tygum of Madison East.

Past winners of the award include Madison Memorial's Lechein Neblett (2009), Monona Grove's Zach Zweifel (2010), Montello/Princeton/Green Lake's Matt Sosinsky (2011), Black River Falls' Jordan Millis (2012), Greendale's Mitchell Brees (2013), and Marquette's Jake Matkovich (2014).

The award is named after Al Toon, a graduate of the University of Wisconsin who still ranks in the top three or four of almost all game, season, and career receiving categories. Toon was a first-round draft choice by the New York Jets, who led the NFL in catches in 1988 with 93. Injuries forced him to retire early from the NFL, but he has been a fixture back in the Madison area for many years.
