After one of the most impressive drives in state championship history to salt things away, Homestead captured the Division 2 state title with a 28-12 victory over Waukesha West.

Leading 21-6, Homestead took over at its own 21-yard line with 4:19 left in the third quarter. After five third-down conversions and a pair of fourth down pickups, the Highlanders finished off an epic 23-play, 79-yard drive that took 12:57 off the clock on a Matt Winters 1-yard rush. By the time the drive ended, Homestead had a three-score lead, leaving West with little hope to come back.

While slightly outgained by Waukesha West, Homestead capitalized on a pair of first half turnovers, converting an interception and a fumble into touchdowns.

Trailing 21-0 at halftime, Waukesha West got on the board with 4:25 left in the third quarter, but Homestead's lengthy scoring drive cut off any hopes of a comeback. The Wolverines did add a garbage time score with 1:11 left to make it 28-12, but Homestead kneeled it out from there for the victory.
