Some familiar names sit atop their respective divisions in the WSN Cup standings following the Fall Sports season, but there is a long ways to go to determine who will take home the hardware.

The WSN Cup is an award that honors schools that provide and achieve success in many of the WIAA sponsored sports. The award totals points earned in both boys and girls sports. All WIAA sponsored sports are included as part of the scoring for the award.

In the Large Schools Division (enrollment over 1000 students), eight-time defending champion Arrowhead once again reigns supreme with a dominating lead. The Warhawks not only have the top score in the division and overall, their 542 points is one of the highest totals recorded in a single sports season since the award was launched in 2007-08. A state championship from the girls swimming and diving team along with state runner-up finishes in football, girls golf, girls cross country, and boys soccer highlight an incredible fall campaign. The Warhawks scored points in all nine of the fall WIAA-sanctioned sports. In the Large School Division, Middleton is second with a very strong 340 points, while Kimberly, Eau Claire Memorial, and Brookfield East round out the top five.

Madison Edgewood and Notre Dame have ruled the Medium Schools Division (enrollment 500-1000), with Edgewood's win last year evening things up at four trophies apiece in the eight years the award has been presented. It seems this year will be no different, as the Tritons of Notre Dame are narrowly in front with 381 points, just ahead of Edgewood's 370. Notre Dame grabbed a state championship in football, with strong performances in boys and girls cross country, girls volleyball, and boys soccer as well. Pewaukee is in third with 255 points, followed by Catholic Memorial and McFarland, who are tied at 230 points apiece.

After Aquinas won six straight trophies in the Small School Division (enrollment below 500), the Blugolds have been shut out the last two seasons. Don't look now, but Aquinas is out front in the early going with 211 points. There have been no state titles or even runner-up finishes yet, but they have been strong across the board, especially in boys and girls cross country along with boys soccer. Darlington has a boys cross country title and football runner-up finish, and currently reside in second place. Lourdes Academy, Altoona, and a tie between Westby and The Prairie School round out the top six.

Here are the Top Five schools in each division:

Divisions - Starting in 2008-09 schools will be placed in three divisions. The Large School Division is for schools with enrollment over 1000. Medium Schools are classified as 500 to 1000 and Small School division is below 500. In 2007-08 schools with enrollments of 900 or more were in the large school division while schools with enrollments up to 900 were in the small schools division.

Points - Points are awarded for finishes in the state tournament of every team sport. Generally, the top 32 teams in each sport are awarded points. If less than 32 teams participate in a non-bracket sport state meet then those are the only schools that are awarded points. For Co-op teams the total points are divided based on enrollment of the schools that participate in the co-op team.
