After Mineral Point scored with less than 10 seconds left to take a 2-point lead, Southwestern pushed the ball up the court as the Pointers scrambled back on defense. With things a bit chaotic, Southwestern freshman Dylan Rieken found himself all alone on the left wing. Receiving the pass, he calmly drained a game-winning three-pointer with less than two seconds remaining to give the Wildcats a 48-47 victory.
It was a statement win for head coach Clint Nemitz and company, who are now 5-3 in the tough SWAL and a darkhorse team in the Division 5 playoffs. Reiken finished with 5 points in the game.
