The beauty of conference games is often that, despite two teams being out of the league title race, there is always something on the line, even if just bragging rights. Slinger and Watertown aren't in contention for a Wisconsin Little Ten Conference championship, but it was still a very meaningful game Friday night.
A game that ended in remarkable fashion, as Slinger battled back from a 13-point deficit in the second half, but still trailed by 4 points with 7 seconds remaining. They were down by just 1 with 3 seconds left when Watertown made the first of two free throws, but missed the second. Slinger's Derek Sabin ended up with the ball and launched a runner from the opposite top of the key, which banked in for an improbable 52-51 victory.
