New Berlin Eisenhower found itself down by 9 with seven and a half minutes to play in the Division 2 state championship game, but head coach Gary Schmidt's troops found a way to make the plays necessary down the stretch to score a 46-42 victory over Stoughton.

A back and forth first half saw lots of action by both teams, but not necessarily great execution. Stoughton turned the ball over 9 times before the break, while Eisenhower shot just 33%. Stoughton did carry a 17-14 lead into halftime however.

Stoughton would go up by 8 with 10 minutes to go, and stretched it to 9 points at the 7:31 mark. Eisenhower started to find the range however, as back-to-back three-pointers by Julia Hintz and Abby Thyne got them right back in the game. A layup by Chelsea Brackann at the 5:14 mark put Eisenhower ahead, and they would not relinquish the lead again.

Stoughton had chances towards the end, failing to score on three straight possessions inside a minute and a half with the chance to tie or take the lead.

Hintz led a balanced scoring effort for Eisenhower with 12 points, while Emalie Hahn added 11 and Brackmann chipped in with 10.Marissa Robson scored a team-high 12 points for Stoughton, who also got 11 from Hannah Hobson.

It is the second state title for New Berlin Eisenhower, who also won it all in 2010. The Lions were runners-up in 2012 and 2013 as well.
