Madelyn Neff of Hayward girls basketball has been selected as the PlayInTheDells.com Athlete of the Week for the week of March 7 through 13 after a statewide vote on WisSports.net. 

There were 3,094 votes this week with Neff receiving 1,227 votes. Job Alexander of Marquette boys basketball finished second with 1,054 votes. 

 Neff helped the Hurricanes win their first state title, she finished with 24 points (15-16 on FT's) and added 10 rebounds in their 43-31 win over Milwaukee School of Languages in the Division 3 championship game. She scored 23 points, including hitting a pair of free throws with 6.2 seconds left to lift the Hurricanes past Madison Edgewood 50-49 in a state semi-final. 

Madelyn set the Division 3 WIAA State Tournament record for most free throws made with 26, breaking Jenny Lindner of Neillsville's previous record of 24. Madelyn also broke the state tournament record for attempts with 28, Lindner also had that record with 27.

Hayward finished the season with a 27-1 overall record.
