Some familiar names sit atop their respective divisions in the WSN Cup standings following the Winter Sports season, but there is a long ways to go to determine who will take home the hardware.

The WSN Cup is an award that honors schools that provide and achieve success in many of the WIAA sponsored sports. The award totals points earned in both boys and girls sports. All WIAA sponsored sports are included as part of the scoring for the award.

In the Large Schools Division (enrollment over 1000 students), eight-time defending champion Arrowhead retains a commanding lead. We've seen higher totals from the Warhawks in the past however, as they were just 5th during the winter sports season. A third place finish in girls gymnastics and state quarterfinal trip in girls hoops were the highlights. With championships from boys basketball and wrestling, Kaukauna had the highest Large Schools score during the winter with 202. The dominating lead built by Arrowhead in the fall will be too much to overcome however, as in the cumulative standings, the program holds a 220-point lead over second-place Middleton. Eau Claire Memorial, Brookfield East, and Kimberly round out the rest of the top five in the Large Schools Division season standings.

The Medium Schools Division (enrollment 500-999 students) finds Madison Edgewood on top, as the two-time defending champions had a solid winter season, posting 143.5 points. A state tournament appearance by the girls basketball team was the highlight. The Crusaders leap-frogged Notre Dame in the season standings after the Tritons had held a narrow advantage following fall sports. The rest of the top five consists of Whitefish Bay, Pewaukee, and Shorewood. The highest winter sports total went to Waupun, which got a state title from the boys basketball team plus strong performances in girls hoops, gymnastics, and boys hockey.

In the Small Schools Division (enrollment below 500), Aquinas won six straight trophies before falling off the last two seasons. The Blugolds led after fall sports this year however, and retain that advantage following the winter season. A surprising state tournament run by the boys basketball team allows the school to remain on top, about 50 points ahead of Darlington. Other schools in the top five are Regis, Lourdes Academy, and Amherst. The highest winter sports score was achieved by Barneveld, with all the points coming from a state runner-up girls basketball team and state semi-finalist boys hoops squad.

Medium Schools:

Madison Edgewood - 513.5 points
Notre Dame - 455.1 points
Whitefish Bay - 385 points
Pewaukee - 320.33 points
Shorewood - 319 points

Small Schools:

Aquinas - 397.85 points
Darlington - 245 points
Regis - 240 points
Lourdes Academy - 233.33 points
Amherst - 201.33 points

Divisions - Starting in 2008-09 schools will be placed in three divisions. The Large School Division is for schools with enrollment over 1000. Medium Schools are classified as 500 to 1000 and Small School division is below 500. In 2007-08 schools with enrollments of 900 or more were in the large school division while schools with enrollments up to 900 were in the small schools division. 

Points - Points are awarded for finishes in the state tournament of every team sport. Generally, the top 32 teams in each sport are awarded points. If less than 32 teams participate in a non-bracket sport state meet then those are the only schools that are awarded points. For Co-op teams the total points are divided based on enrollment of the schools that participate in the co-op team.
