Kenosha Indian Trail's Gavin Lux has been selected as the top senior Infielder/Catcher as part of the WSN Senior Baseball Awards.

Last Thursday, Lux became the first Wisconsin high school player taken in the first round of the MLB Draft since 1979, as the Los Angeles Dodgers selected him with the 20th overall pick. Scouts love his tools in the field and his emerging power at the plate. Previously committed to Arizona State, he could instead head straight to professional baseball.

The senior shortstop helped Indian Trail to the #1 ranking in Division 1 at the end of the year, with a .476 batting average and .959 OPS. He hit 4 home runs on the season while playing his typical outstanding defense.

Finalists for the award were Lux, Gavin Lavey of Kenosha Tremper, Ben Rortvedt of Verona, Cody Ryan of Markesan, and Jake Wiedower of Saint Francis.

Past winners of the award include Prescott's Billy Brookshaw (2012), Bay Port's Drew Neuville (2013), Marshfield's Daulton Varsho (2014), and Jefferson's Nick Schrader.
