Arrowhead's Ryan Schmitt has been selected as the top senior Pitcher as part of the WSN Senior Baseball Awards.

Schmitt teams with Nate Brown, another finalist, for one of the best pitching duos the state has seen in some time. Both players picked up wins yesterday, as Schmitt struck out 7 in a complete game victory over Sun Prairie in the quarterfinals, with Brown getting the in in a semi-final contest against Kimberly.

Committed to Illinois, Schmitt allowed just 4 earned runs prior to the state tournament in 57 innings of work, good for a 0.49 ERA. He went 11-0 in 11 starts, with 78 strikeouts, tossing a no-hitter against a very good Oconomowoc team on May 19th.

Finalists for the award were Schmitt, Hunter Black of Durand, Brandon Bohl of Elk Mound, Nate Brown of Arrowhead, and Jacob Huebsch of Ithaca.

Past winners of the award include Sun Prairie's Nate Hoffmann (2012), Kenosha Bradford's Kevin Tibor (2013), Stevens Point's Cal Giese (2014), and Kimberly's Brice Swick.
