Wisconsin Varsity Invitational to be held this weekend

The Wisconsin Varsity Invitational sponsored by Wisconsin Impact will be held this Saturday, July 16, and Sunday, July 17, at Center Court in Waukesha and Pewaukee High School. 

The tournament features 64 teams that are split into two divisions of 32 based on enrollment and strength. 

The average record of the Large Division Teams was 18-7 last season, while the average record for the Small Division Teams was 16-8. Click here for the complete list of schools with enrollment, record and division. 

Three of last season state champions are among the 64-team field: Verona (Division 1), New Berlin Eisenhower (Division 2) and Hayward (Division 3). 

Seven other teams reached the state tournament last season, they include: Mukwonago (D1 runner-up), Oak Creek (D1), Stoughton (D2 runner-up), Notre Dame (D2), Onalaska (D2), Marathon (D4) and Barneveld (D5 runner-up). 

Every team will play five games, three on Saturday in pool play and two on Sunday in bracket play.

Last summer, Waukesha West won the Large Division title and West Salem captured the Small Division championship.
