Wisconsin Varsity Invitational Recap: New Berlin Eisenhower and Lourdes Academy claim titles

The 6th annual Wisconsin Varsity Invitational was held last weekend at Center Court in Waukesha and Pewaukee high school, hosted by Wisconsin Impact. 

The tournament featured 64 teams that were split into two divisions of 32 based on enrollment and strength. 


New Berlin Eisenhower

New Berlin Eisenhower, the defending Division 2 state champions, captured the Large Division championship by defeating Arrowhead in the title game, 45-31. 

The Lions also posted wins over Brookfield East (35-32) and Brookfield Central (48-40) in bracket play on Sunday. In pool play, Eisenhower defeated Sheboygan South (52-27), Janesville Craig (48-34) and Waunakee (58-51) to go 6-0 over the two days. 

Brookfield Central and Onalaska each reached semi-finals; Beaver Dam, Brookfield East, Oak Creek and Sheboygan North also competed in the championship bracket. 


Lourdes Academy

Lourdes Academy won the Small Division championship, beating West De Pere 42-34 in the title game. 

The Knights also posted wins over Freedom (57-49) and Bloomer (49-41) in bracket play on Sunday. In pool play, they defeated South Milwaukee (60-39), Catholic Central (53-30) and Big Foot (53-42) to win all six of their games over the two days. 

Freedom and Pewaukee each reached the semi-finals; Bloomer, Cameron, Slinger and Valders also competed in the championship bracket.
