As part of the weekly preview I produce every Thursday showcasing the best games from around the state, I always highlight one contest as the Game of the Week. To expand on that, each week I'll post a poll where you -- the fans -- can vote for who you think will win the Game of the Week.

Week 1 Game of the Week: Arrowhead (Preseason D1 #2) at Homestead (Preseason D2 #4) -- Thursday, 7 pm

There are a number of outstanding games this week, but it's hard to get bigger than this clash of state titans. They've combined for 48 playoff appearances, 114 postseason victories, 11 titles, and 8 runner-up finishes. They met in the D1 championship game three straight years from 2006 to 2008, with Homestead getting a pair of head to head victories in those games sandwiched around an Arrowhead title in 2007. After Homestead won regular season non-conference games over Arrowhead in 2013 and 2014, the Warhawks got the upper-hand last year. Both teams would end up in Madison, as Homestead took home a Division 2 championship while Arrowhead fell to Kimberly in the D1 title game for a second straight year. Homestead loses a considerable amount of talent from last year's team, but head coach Dave Keel still has a group capable of winning a league title and perhaps getting back to state. Arrowhead's new head coach Fritz Rauch was a longtime assistant at Homestead before serving as the Grafton head coach for one year, adding even more intrigue to this battle of state powers.
