The Oconomowoc Raccoons have been selected as the Week 1 U.S. Army Team of the Week following a statewide vote on WSN. The team rallied to knock off Kettle Moraine 42-35, scoring the final three touchdowns of the game. The Raccoons were chosen from a strong group of nominees in Week 1. A total of 2,310 votes were cast, as Oconomowoc's 951 votes and edged Wisconsin Rapid's 414.

The Raccoons have big expectations this season after winning a league title last year and returning loads of talented skill position players. It was a rough start however, as Kettle Moraine went up 14-0 in the first quarter and held a 35-21 lead over Oconomowoc in the third. The Coons rallied back, scoring the final three touchdowns of the game for a 42-35 victory.

All-State quarterback Ben Nienhuis threw for 329 yards and a touchdown, adding one on the ground as well. Christian Gurule rushed for 131 yards and 2 touchdowns while adding a 98-yard kickoff return touchdowh, and Zach Clayton hauled in 13 passes for 244 yards in the non-conference contest.

Remember folks, the only way your favorite team can be named WSN Team of the Week is to vote and share the word. Look for the Week 2 nominees to be posted Monday afternoon.
