Below are the PlayInTheDells.com Athlete of the Week Nominees for the week of August 22 through 28. Voting is open until Thursday at 4pm, so be sure to vote for who you feel is most deserving and spread the word. Users may vote once per day.

PlayInTheDells.com Athlete of the Week Nominees: August 22-28

Payton Aranda, Badger boys' soccer: Aranda scored 5 goals in the Badgers' 6-3 win over Racine Horlick on Tuesday and netted the only goal of the game in the 1-0 victory against Kenosha Tremper on Wednesday. 

Brianna Banks, Eau Claire North girls' volleyball: Banks compiled 44 kills and 66 digs to lead the Huskies to the Menomonie Sprawl title on Saturday. Eau Claire North went undefeated at the invite, beating D.C. Everest 23-25, 25-23, 15-10 in the championship match. 

Gavin Buergi, Green Bay Preble football: Buergi returned two kickoffs for touchdowns and added a rushing touchdown in the Hornets' 42-41 win over Ashwaubenon on Friday. His kickoff returns for touchdowns were from 99 and 98 yards, while his rushing touchdown was 34 yards. 

Luke Meihack, Winnebago Lutheran boys' soccer: Meihack totaled 5 goals and 4 assists in wins over Lomira (10-0) and Fond du Lac (9-0) last week. 

Brianna Merkel, Franklin girls' volleyball: Merkel helped the Sabres capture the UW-Whitewater Invite on Saturday, defeating Cedarburg 25-16, 25-20 in the championship match. Last week, she tallied 53 kills, 137 assists, 39 digs and 7 aces in 28 sets.
