U.S. Army Week 2 Team of the Week Nominees:

Chippewa Falls -- The Cardinals knew it would be a long night against Rice Lake, the team they shared the Big Rivers crown with last season. Despite going up 21-7 and 35-14 during the game, there was no settling in, as Rice Lake came back to make it interesting, pulling within a touchdown on two different occasions in the fourth quarter. Chippewa Falls answered both times however, pulling out a 49-35 victory. The team racked up 283 yards on the ground, led by Cody Meinen's 171. They also were opportunistic on defense, returning two fumbles for touchdowns and picking off a pass as well.

Ithaca -- The Bulldogs have won back-to-back Ridge & Valley Conference titles, but it is a young team this year following the graduation of last season's strong senior class. The thought around the league was that if anyone was to end Ithaca's run at the top, it would be De Soto. Friday night, the Bulldogs showed they aren't quite ready to give up the crown, defeating De Soto 28-12. Luke Oelke and Colton Clary combined for 280 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the win. Ithaca head coach Chad Clary has continued to coach this season despite being diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a form of cancer, earlier this year. His prognosis is positive and he continues to receive treatment two days a week.

Onalaska -- Switching quarterbacks mid-game isn't supposed to work as well as it did for Onalaska Friday night, as the Hilltoppers rallied from a 21-7 deficit to score a 43-21 win over Holmen. It was the team's first victory over the Vikings since 2007. Starting quarterback Brayton Duin threw for 208 yards and 3 touchdowns, but had a pair of early interceptions. Noah Skifton came in in the second half to complete all three of his passes for 105 yards and a pair of scores, as he and Duin shared time the rest of the way. Both Jalen Sample (7 catches, 183 yards, 3 TD) and Tyler Hughes (6, 126, 2) had big games catching the ball.

Waukesha North -- Waukesha North had not beaten Arrowhead since 1999 and not made the playoffs since 2006, but the Northstars can cross one of those items off the list now. Just a year after losing 56-0 to Arrowhead, North went ahead early in the second quarter and held on for a 26-20 victory, sending shockwaves around the prep football scene in Wisconsin. Senior quarterback Brennan Demark threw for 288 yards and 4 touchdowns, as Taylor Anderson hauled in a pair of scores and Kendall Gould caught 6 passes for 143 yards and a touchdown.

Wilmot -- The Panthers didn't play a perfectly clean game against Waterford on Friday night, but when plays needed to be made, they got the job done enough to squeak out a 10-7 victory in a huge early Southern Lakes game. Robert Brent did much of the damage on the ground for Wilmot, rushing 26 times for 145 yards. The defense held Waterford to just 244 yards and picked off the Wolverines twice.
