Week 1 WisSports.net Coaches Poll

Please note, divisional placement in our poll is based on our Enrollment Projections done earlier this year. Divisional placement in the WIAA playoffs is not determined until after the season and these projections can and will be different than the divisions at the end of the year. We have added an 8-Man Coaches Poll this season.

Division 1

Everything was setting up perfectly for a #1 vs. #2 match-up in Week 5, until Appleton North's upset loss to Wausau West last Friday. The Lightning fall from #2 to #7 this week heading into the showdown against Kimberly. Wisconsin Rapids and Madison La Follette both lost in the final minute last week and fell out of the rankings, with Verona and Badger moving in this week.

Division 2

The top five in the Division 2 Coaches Poll remains the same, with Waunakee a unanimous #1 choice. Third-ranked Brookfield Central and #5 Brookfield East will square off this week for city bragging rights. Waukesha West's shutout loss to Arrowhead drops the Wolverines out of this week's rankings, though a game against #6 Waukesha North gives them an opportunity to get back in next week potentially. Green Bay Southwest and Whitefish Bay move into this week's poll at #9 and #10 respectively.

Division 3

There were no changes in the top five of Division 3 either, as Notre Dame still holds a slight edge over Catholic Memorial. There were plenty of changes elsewhere however, as losses by Monona Grove, Freedom, and Xavier dropped those teams out of the rankings in this very deep division. Four undefeated teams move into the rankings this week: Pewaukee (#8), Waupaca (#9), Sparta (#10 tie), and Monroe (#10 tie). Still, undefeated teams Luxemburg-Casco and Hayward remain just outside the poll.

Division 4

Osceola keeps on keepin' on as the dominant team in the Division 4 Coaches Poll on WisSports.net. Columbus is second, following by Little Chute, Lodi, and Saint Croix Central, the same quintet as last week in the top five. Losses by Ellsworth and Bloomer allowed undefeated teams Kiel and Adams-Friendship to make their season debuts in the WisSports.net Coaches Poll.

Division 5

There was little change in the Division 5 poll this week, with Amherst continuing to occupy the #1 position. Stratford's win over rival Edgar allowed the Tigers to move up from 9th to 7th this week, while another Marawood Conference team, Rib Lake/Prentice, debuts in the rankings at #10.

Division 6

The Division 6 field has been very impressive this season, and the ranked teams did what they needed to do last week. There were no losses by teams in the Week 3 poll, which resulted in the exact same order as the last rankings. Saint Mary's Springs remains on top, with Darlington providing a strong push.

Division 7

Bangor's win over fellow unbeaten Highland helped the Cardinals retain the #1 position, but former #2 Edgar went down in a close game to Stratford. However, it only resulted in a one spot dip by the Wildcats, who are third behind Pepin/Alma. Hurley drops out this week, with Hilbert/Stockbridge moving into the rankings at #10.

8-Man Football

Once again, Prairie Farm sits in the top spot of the 8-Man Football Coaches poll, as we're down to just four undefeated teams in the division. Those four teams are the top four in the rankings as well. Siren fell from the ranks of the unbeatens last week, going down to Northwood/Solon Springs, and the Dragons slid from #5 to #7. Oakfield is new to this week's poll at #9.
