As part of the weekly preview I produce every Thursday showcasing the best games from around the state, I always highlight one contest as the Game of the Week. To expand on that, each week I'll post a poll where you -- the fans -- can vote for who you think will win the Game of the Week.

Week 5 Game of the Week: Kimberly (4-0, 3-0; D1 #1) at Appleton North (3-1, 2-1; D1 #7) -- Friday, 7 pm

Did this game lose just a bit of luster with Appleton North's shocking defeat to Wausau West last week? Perhaps, but it is still a match-up of top ten powerhouses in one of the best large-school rivalries of the last decade or more. The last two years, Appleton North gave Kimberly its toughest game of the regular season. In last year's contest, the teams were tied at 21 at halftime before Kimberly held on for a 35-28 victory. I've said all year that I think this is the best chance of Kimberly going down before potentially breaking the state record for consecutive wins, and even with North's setback last week, that remains the case. Kimberly quarterback Danny Vanden Boom has been outstanding once again, and the running back duo of D.J. Stewart and Zach Miller has performed extremely well, but there's no Blair Mulholland around to carry the load like he did last year when he put up 50 carries for 299 yards and 4 touchdowns in the victory over North.
