U.S. Army Week 5 Team of the Week Nominees:

Menomonie -- Hudson had built one of the most impressive resumes of any team in the state, with four straight road or neutral site wins over quality competition. However, in the team's first home game of the year, Menomonie ground out more than 300 rushing yards en route to a 34-14 win. Mitch Weber went for 104 yards and 4 touchdowns, while Justin Evans had 201 yards with a score for the Mustangs, who are now the only unbeaten team in Big Rivers play.

Port Washington -- The Pirates have not made the playoffs since 2008, when a junior quarterback named Josh Gasser led the team to Level 3. In order to end the streak, the team knew it would have to get by one of the North Shore's big four programs, and Friday night it finally happened. The Pirates blew open a close game with four straight touchdowns in the second and third quarters to win 55-34 over Cedarburg. Port Washington amassed 362 rushing yards, with Matt Ruppel (150 yards, 3 TD) and Tanner Orten (127 yards, 2 TD) each topping the century mark.

Siren -- The Dragons were coming off a Week 4 loss to Northwood/Solon Springs, with the unenviable task of traveling to Prairie Farm, who had won the last two unofficial 8-Man state titles and had not lost since the 2013 8-Man Jamboree, with a 40-1 overall mark in 8-Man. Siren would not be intimidated however, winning a tight game 22-16. Brady Mangen ran for 123 yards and a touchdown, while Dolon Highstrom threw a pair of touchdown passes.

Verona -- The Wildcats entered Friday's showdown with fellow unbeaten Big Eight squad Middleton allowing just 4.5 points per game, and while they exceeded that, it was still a very impressive performance as Verona held on for a thrilling 10-7 victory. The defense allowed nearly 400 yards of offense, but got key stops when they needed it to hold Middleton to just one score. Drew King rushed for 99 yards, Max Fink hit on some big plays in the passing game, and state high jump champion Jack Herkert out-leaped a defender for a 48-yard second quarter score, with Aaron Young adding a first quarter field goal.

Wild Rose -- Not only did Wild Rose hand defending CWC-10 champion Almond-Bancroft its first loss of the season, the Wildcats shut out the Eagles' high-powered offense that had scored at least 34 points in each of the first four games. Alec VanDeCastle hooked up with Paul Hernandez for a 66-yard touchdown to open the scoring for Wild Rose, who would add three more rushing touchdowns to win 25-0 and remain undefeated on the season.
