Joe Garcia of Racine Horlick has been selected as the Week 5 Player of the Week following a statewide vote on WisSports.net. Garcia had a big game in a close win over Kenosha Bradford, including what proved to be the game-winning touchdown. He was chosen from a strong group of nominees in Week 5. A total of 4,501 votes were cast, as Garcia's 1,291 were enough to edge second place D.J. Stewart of Kimberly, who tallied 1,173.

The Rebels had already lost one conference game, and were in danger of going down again as they trailed Kenosha Bradford 30-21 in the 4th quarter. After a Horlick field goal pulled the Rebels within 30-24, Garcia scored on a 69-yard touchdown run as Horlick held on for a 31-30 victory. He ran 20 times for 258 yards with 3 touchdowns, adding a 31-yard touchdown pass with just 9 seconds left in the second quarter as well.

Remember folks, the only way your favorite player can be named WisSports.net Player of the Week is to vote and share the word. Look for the Week 6 nominees to be posted Monday afternoon.
