Week 1 WisSports.net Coaches Poll

Please note, divisional placement in our poll is based on our Enrollment Projections done earlier this year. Divisional placement in the WIAA playoffs is not determined until after the season and these projections can and will be different than the divisions at the end of the year. We have added an 8-Man Coaches Poll this season.

Division 1

Kimberly remains the unanimous #1 team in Division 1, as the Papermakers tied the state record with their 48th consecutive victory last week, and break the record against Appleton West this week. Stevens Point went down in overtime to Wisconsin Rapids, dropping the Panthers from 3rd to 9th, with Rapids re-entering the poll at #8. After a second straight loss, this time to Rice Lake, Hudson falls out of the poll, replaced by Kenosha Indian Trail.

Division 2

Not much changed at the top, as Waunakee has a commanding lead in the voting, with Menasha, Brookfield Central, Homestead, and Menomonie once again rounding out the top five. One-score losses by Green Bay Southwest (#6) and Wilmot (#9) dropped those teams out of the poll, with Waukesha West and Greendale returning.

Division 3

Like D2, there is no change in the top five of the Division 2 WisSports.net Coaches Poll, though Notre Dame (#1), Catholic Memorial (#2) and West De Pere (#3) all received at least one first-place vote. Kewaskum (#6) and Sparta (#9) suffered their first losses of the year and fell out of the rankings, as Onalaska and Plymouth move in.

Division 4

The top six are unchanged in the D4 Coaches Poll this week, as defending state champion Osceola remains the strong favorite in the voting. The Capitol-North lead will be on the line this week as #2 Columbus welcomes in #3 Lodi in one of the best games of the year. Clinton and Lake Mills are new teams in this week's poll.

Division 5

Amherst is the top-ranked team in Division 5, with Stanley-Boyd right behind, but former #3 Winnebago Lutheran committed four turnovers and fell to Laconia 18-10 last week. The loss drops WLA to a tie for 10th, while Laconia moves into the rankings at #8.

Division 6

There was no change in this week's Division 6 poll, as all teams won and the voting shook out just as it had the previous week. Saint Mary's Springs continues to receive the majority of the #1 votes, though Darlington once again received support in the top spot as well.

Division 7

Defending state champion Bangor further secured its spot at the top with a 13-0 win over former #7 Royall, as the Panthers slipped to #10 this week. Pepin/Alma is second, but Edgar suffered its second loss of the year, though the Wildcats slid to just 5th.

8-Man Football

Abundant Life is now the only undefeated 8-Man team in the state, and the Chargers retained their top spot in the Coaches Poll. Northwood/Solon Spring had been #2, but suffered it's first loss of the year in a dominating defeat at the hands of Luck, and the team's simply switched spots this week, as Luck moves up to 2nd and Northwood/Solon Springs dips to 5th. Siren and Prairie Farm are 3rd and 4th respectively once again. This will be a big week, as Abundant Life will host #8 Wisconsin Heights. Also, Luck will welcome in Siren.
