Looking Back

The Lakeland-8 Conference continued taking turns beating up on each other, as this time it was Luck knocking Northwood/Solon Springs from the ranks of the unbeaten with a 44-14 road victory. The Cardinals rolled up 352 yards and 6 touchdowns as the ground, as Casey Ogilvie (137 yards, 3 TD) and Austin Hamack (129, 2) each eclipsed the century mark. For Luck it marks four straight wins on the field after dropping the first two, including a non-league contest against Prairie Farm. The Cardinals are now alone atop the conference standings.

Abundant Life/St. Ambrose remained unbeaten, defeating North Shore Country Day (IL) 56-36. The offense produced 570 yards, as three players had at least 125 yards receiving in the game as Mike Rhatican threw for 432 and 6 touchdowns.

Bruce got an important Lakeland-8 win over Mellen behind 291 rushing yards and 5 scores from Kevin Brockman.

Looking Ahead

There are a couple of big games on the schedule this week. Luck will look to remain on top of the Lakeland-8 as they welcome in Siren. Both teams have put up huge numbers on the ground, averaging more than 570 yards per game combined. Can either team's defense slow down the rushing attack, or will it be a track meet up and down the field?

On Saturday, #1 Abundant Life/St. Ambrose hosts #8 Wisconsin Heights in a battle of ranked teams. Heights has looked very good in its first year as an 8-Man team, but Abundant Life has one of the most balanced and explosive offenses we've seen, averaging 534 yards per game.

Star of the Week: Antonio Mahkimetas, Menominee Indian

There hasn't been a lot to cheer about this year for Menominee Indian, but a 58-32 victory over Bowler/Gresham moved the team to 2-4 on the season. Antonio Mahkimetas had a huge day, rushing 22 times for 432 yards and 5 touchdowns. He also added a pair of kickoff returns totaling 122 yards.
