Looking Back

There were a number of big games last week, including some surprises. In the Lakeland-8, Prairie Farm took down Northwood/Solon Springs 34-12 to take over sole possession of second place behind Luck. Neither team put up real big numbers on offense, but Prairie Farm did enough to get the job done.

Siren received a conference forfeit against Birchwood, but scheduled a replacement non-league game against Ely (MN), falling in a tough one 37-20. The Dragons are now tied for third in the league standings.

Over in the Great 8 Conference, teams were in the final games before Week 9's crossover games. Green Bay NEW Lutheran had been undefeated in league play, but Sevastopol took down the Blazers 26-20, forcing a tie atop the conference standings. More on that game a bit later.

Looking Ahead

It's a great way to end the season, as the Lakeland-8 conference title is on the line while the Great 8 conference championship will be held as well.

Prairie Farm beat Luck back in Week 1 in what was technically a non-conference game, but the Cardinals have rebounded nicely, sporting a 7-0 league record. They host Prairie Farm this week, as the Panthers are 6-1 and can grab a share of the conference crown with another win.

The Great 8 conference title match-up pits Green Bay NEW Lutheran, champs of the North Division, against Abundant Life/St. Ambrose, the winners of the South. Abundant Life remains the only undefeated team in 8-Man Football, while NEW Lutheran is coming off a tough loss to Sevastopol last week.

Star of the Week: Ethan Kroll, Sevastopol

As mentioned, Sevastopol scored a huge 26-20 win over Green Bay NEW Lutheran to grab a share of the Great 8-North title, as Ethan Kroll had a big game. he rushed 12 times for 150 yards and 3 touchdowns, adding a pair of catches for 70 yards and another score. Over on defense, he led the team with 17 tackles.
