The WSN Team of the Week is back again for 2016. The voting this year is upgraded and is featured at the bottom of the article. Voting is open until Thursday at 4 p.m., so be sure to vote for who you feel is most deserving and spread the word (hint:  Social Media is a great way to do so). Users may vote once per day.

Level 1 Team of the Week Nominees:

Delavan-Darien - 7th-seeded Delavan-Darien led #2 Mount Horeb/Barneveld 21-7 early in the third quarter, and maintained that lead until late in the 4th quarter. That's when MHB scored a pair of touchdowns in the last 4:12 of the game to tie it up and force overtime. Delavan-Darien would not be denied however, getting a Jake Benzing to Ben Ingersol touchdown in overtime to win 28-21. Benzing finished with 189 passing yards and 2 scores to go with 137 rushing yards and another touchdown.

Madison La Follette - What a difference just one week can make. For the first time since the WIAA went to true 1-8 seeding in 2012, a top seed in D1 went down, as Madison La Follette hammered Sun Prairie 40-13. Also making this game so surprising was the result of the Week 9 game between these teams won by Sun Prairie 31-7. A 51-point swing in just one week is difficult to understand, but note that La Follette quarterback Julian Patton did not play in the first match-up between the teams, but was a huge difference-maker in the second contest, throwing for 86 yards but doing big damage on the ground to the tune of 212 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Menomonee Falls - There were a number of big upsets in Division 2, but the big shocker however was #7 Menomonee Falls taking down #2 Menasha 21-14. Falls had to pull off a huge upset in Week 9 against Brookfield Central just to get into the playoffs, while Menasha was undefeated and smarting a bit from getting the #2 seed behind Brookfield Central.

Royall - History was made Friday night, as the Royall Panthers won their first postseason game in school history. The Panthers had been 0-11 previously, with the last playoff trip coming in 2002. It wasn't easy though, as the team had to go to double overtime to top league rival New Lisbon 12-6. Chandlor Townsend had a big game, rushing 38 times for 197 yards and a touchdown.

Wrightstown - Division 4 featured the fewest number of upsets based on seeding, with #5 Wrightstown over #4 Adams-Friendship the lone road win. The Tigers got a last second 22-yard field goal from Jon Gerrits to top the Green Devils 22-20 in a game many were monitoring, as Adams-Friendship went undefeated during the regular season and was ranked behind teams with a combined six losses. Bryce Herlache was a workhorse, rushing for 285 yards and 3 touchdowns on 33 carries.
