Week 1 WisSports.net Boys Basketball Coaches Poll
 

Division 1

While star junior forward Joey Hauser has missed the early going, two-time defending state champion Stevens Point gets the nod in the top spot of the Division 1 Coaches Poll to start the season. Oshkosh North is an impressive 3-0 as well and come in second, while Madison Memorial, Milwaukee Vincent, and Milwaukee Riverside round out the top five of what has been a volatile early D1 schedule.

Division 2

Defending state champion Kaukauna is 1-0 to start the season and begin on top of the poll, followed closely by fellow state tournament teams Waunakee and Cedarburg. Also in the top five are 3-0 squads Cedarburg and Pius XI Catholic. 

Division 3

Waupun captured the 2016 Division 3 state title and the Warriors are on top of the rankings to begin the new year with a 2-0 record. Fellow East Central team Ripon is second, with Lake Mills, Evansville, and Xavier rounding out the top five. All ranked teams in Division 3 are undefeated in the early going.

Division 4

With five-time state champion Dominican moving up to Division 4, it leaves a considerable hole as the favorite to take home the gold ball in 2017. While they do have one loss on the year, Destiny has looked very good in the early going with a 4-1 record and get a slight edge in a crowded voting. Darlington is second, with the lone win a blowout of perennial power Cuba City. Roncalli is a bit of a surprise in the early season, as despite battling injuries, the Jets are 2-0 and ranked third.

Division 5

Six Rivers teams Barneveld and Shullsburg are the top-ranked teams in the Division 5 Coaches Poll to start the season. Defending champion McDonell Central was picked #1 in the preseason but a 1-2 start has dampened things a bit, though the Macks are still thought highly enough of to be ranked fourth.
