All Coaches Should take note!

The following information was forwarded to all athletic directors from the WIAA.  Be sure to familiarize yourself with these regulations.

SOFTBALL – Stephanie Hauser – 26 games for varsity and JV; 17 games for frosh-only teams.

1.  New this Year:   WFSCA has requested that the WIAA assign hotel rooms for State Tournament, similar to other sports (VB, GBB, BBB).  This request will be in effect for this season.  All qualifying teams will be required to stay at the hotel they are assigned.  If you have booked rooms already for state, you will need to cancel those rooms.  Hotel assignment information will be included in the “state qualifier box” that the school receives at the Sectional Championship.

 2.  New this Year:  The WIAA will conduct a Zoom meeting for all State-qualifying coaches.  Details about the time/day will be sent out to coaches along with other state tournament information.  With the new 5-division structure, assigned hotel rooms, MATC as an alternate site, this will be an important meeting for both new and veteran state-qualifying coaches

3.  The softball coaches advisory recommended and the WIAA Board of Control approved the 5-division tournament structure for the 2017 season.  Be sure to look closely at the tournament assignments for your school’s divisional placement.  As a reminder, in ALL divisions, the higher seed team will host through Sectional Semi-Final game.

4.  All equipment shall be inspected by the umpire, and is to be placed outside the dugout/bench prior to the start of the game.”
5.  If you are planning a trip for Spring Break (i.e. Disney) with your team, be sure that you do the following:

Check the WIAA dates for practice/scrimmages/competitions, to ensure that your Spring Break plans comply with the WIAA calendar.

Obtain contracts from any school that you are competing against or scrimmaging.
A scrimmage must count as a scrimmage for both teams.
A competition must count as a competition for both teams.
