There was a lot on the line for the host Aquinas Blugolds girls' hoops team Tuesday night in a Mississippi Valley Conference showdown against Holmen. The Blugolds are undefeated and ranked #1 in Division 4, and had a chance to secure at least a share of the league title.

It was a tight ballgame throughout, with several ties and lead changes. It was all tied at 45 with under two minutes remaining, and remained so as freshman sensation Lexi Donarski controlled the ball out top with ten seconds left. She probed the Holmen defense but struggled to find an opening. Finally, she attacked the right wing, and dished to junior Whittni Rezin in the corner. With her heels nearly on the out of bounds line, Rezin caught and launched a shot, with the buzzer sounding while the ball was in the air. The ball hit both sides of the rim and popped straight up in the air, then dropped through for the game-winning points in a 48-45 Aquinas victory.
