Birchwood was out of the conference title discussion, but the Bobcats were looking to get some much-needed momentum heading into the playoffs when they took on Flambeau in the final regular season game of the year last Thursday.

Unfortunately for Birchwood, they fell behind 29-20 at halftime then saw Flambeau go on a 9-0 run to open the second half.

The game was not over however, and the remainder of the contest belonged to Birchwood, who out-scored Flambeau 51-22 the rest of the way to score a 71-60 victory.

Senior Tyler Herricks led three players in double figures with 30 points, while Matthew Marcinske and Trent Stanley added 15 apiece.

Birchwood opens the WIAA playoffs this evening with a tough road game at Thorp.
