Senior Girls Basketball Awards: Post Finalists

Wisconsin Sports Network is proud to showcase the WSN High School Basketball Awards.

The pre-season watch list was trimmed down to 15 semi-finalists, and five finalists for the award have now been selected. Winners are announced the week of the state tournament. Finalists are eligible for just one of the five awards. There will be a total of 25 finalists for the five awards, five different players for each award.

Morgan Allen, Hortonville -- Allen, an IUPUI recruit, is averaging 15.9 points and 8 rebounds per game for the Polar Bears this season. Morgan scored a career-high 30 points in a loss to Notre Dame on December 29. Hortonville (18-5) plays New London in a D2 sectional semi-final at Wausau East. 

Sidney Cooks, Kenosha St. Joseph -- Cooks is averaging 27.6 points (2nd most in state), 14.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.6 steals, and 2.5 blocks per game for the Lancers who finished as as the D4 state runner-up last season. The Michigan State recruit has scored at least 30 points in 10 games this season, including a career-high 46 points in a victory against Racine Case on February 15. Kenosha St. Joseph faces conference foe Racine Lutheran in a D4 sectional semi-final tonight at Racine Case.  

Marissa Robson, Stoughton -- Robson, a Northern Iowa recruit, is averaging 14.3 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals per game for the Vikings who finished last season as the D2 state runner-up. Stoughton (21-3) plays conference foe Monroe in a D2 sectional semi-final tonight at Sun Prairie. 

Anja Smith, St. Mary's Springs -- Smith is averaging 20.6 points and 8.3 rebounds per game for the Ledgers. The Grand Valley State recruit also connected on 23 three-pointers. St. Mary's Springs (18-7) plays Howards Grove in a D4 sectional semi-final tonight at West Bend West.   

Lexi Smith, Northland Pines -- Smith finished fourth in the state in scoring with 25.4 points per game, while also contributing 12 rebounds per contest. The Northern Michigan recruit became the 20th girl in state history to surpass 2,000 career points, reaching the mark on February 3 in a win over Mosinee. Lexi also scored 48 points in a win over West Iron (MI), the most in a single game this season.
