Senior Boys Basketball Awards: Shooter Finalists

Wisconsin Sports Network is proud to showcase the WSN High School Basketball Awards.

The pre-season watch list previously was trimmed to 15 semi-finalists, and now five finalists for the award have been selected. Winners are announced the week of the state tournament. Finalists are eligible for just one of the five awards. There will be a total of 25 finalists for the five awards, five different players for each award.

SENIOR BOYS BASKETBALL AWARDS -- SHOOTER FINALISTS

Justin Brookens, 5-9, Milwaukee Vincent – Though on the small side, Brookens play has been huge for Vincent, which shared the Milwaukee City Conference championship with Milwaukee Washington and Milwaukee Riverside. Brooks is averaging 18.4 points and 5.3 assists while making 56 three-point baskets for the Vikings. His ability to make long-distance shots keeps the floor spread and allows teammate Andrew Lewis to drive to the basket.

Garrett Hoffmann, 6-3, Ozaukee – A guard with size, skill and strength, Hoffmann has made 68 shots from beyond the three-point arc while averaging 21.0 points and 5.7 assists per game for first-year coach Bob Domach. The NCAA Division III recruit for Aurora University is a three-year varsity performer who is shooting 72 percent from the foul line for the Warriors. 

Ryan Krueger, 6-5, Hortonville – The NCAA Division I recruit for South Dakota State was definitely a marked man by opposing defenses this winter. Nonetheless, Krueger managed to average 22.2 points and 6.1 rebounds for a very young team. He shot 45 percent from the field, 77 percent from the free-throw line and 41 percent from three-point range. A four-year varsity performer who scored more than 1,400 career points, Krueger made 94 three-point baskets as a senior to rank among the state leaders in three-point field goals made.

Terrence Lewis, 6-6, Milwaukee Riverside – An electrifying player who can really heat up from the perimeter, Lewis is averaging 26.6 points and 10.0 rebounds while playing for his father and coach, Tyrone (Rock) Lewis. The Iowa State recruit has scored more than 1,800 career points and enters sectional play with 57 made three-point shots.

Eddie Muench, 6-4, Ripon – One of the most improved players in Wisconsin over the past 12 months, Muench was fantastic all season for undefeated Ripon. He is averaging 23.1 points and 3.9 rebounds while shooting 50 percent from the field, 76 percent from the free-throw line and 41 percent from three-point range. Muench enters sectional play with 75 made three-point shots.
