WBCA announces Division 3 Girls Basketball All-State Team

Estella Moschkau leads the 2017 WBCA All-State as the lone unanimous selection.

Moschkau, Tori Martell of Somerset, Lexi Smith of Northland Pines, and Myriama Smith-Traore of Whitewater are all repeat first team all-state selections. 

Moschkau was named co-Miss Basketball on Saturday and led the Crusaders (25-3) to their first state title in program history. The Stanford recruit averaged 18.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.3 steals and 2.6 blocks per game for coach Lora Staveness and the Crusaders. Moschkau helped Madison Edgewood reach the state tournament for the first time in program history as a junior. She finished her career with 1,606 points. 

Martell led the Spartans (21-4) to a sectional final appearance this season. The Montana State recruit averaged 23.2 points, 3.8 assists and 2.8 steals per game for coach Cory Lindenberg and Somerset. She connected on 83 three-pointers this season and participated in the WIAA 3-Point Challenge at the Resch Center. 

Smith averaged 25.4 points and 12 rebounds per game for coach Larry Bergum and the Eagles who ended the year with a 16-8 record. The Northern Michigan recruit ended her career with 2,081 career points, which puts her 12th on the state all-time scoring list in girls' basketball. 

Smith-Traore helped Whitewater to a 94-8 record in her four years. As a senior, she averaged 16.9 points, 15.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 2.9 steals and 5 blocks per game for coach Judy Harms and the Whippets (23-2) who fell to eventual D3 state champion Madison Edgewood in a sectional semi-final. The Marquette recruit finished her career with 1,393 points, 1,186 rebounds and 377 blocks. 

Brooke Geier of Kewaunee averaged 20.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 3.9 steals per game for coach and mother Lynn Geier. She led the Storm to a sectional semi-final before falling to state qualifier Wrightstown in overtime. 

Makenna Haase of Freedom averaged 20.2 points, 13.1 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game for coach Mike Vander Loop and the Irish. The Clarke University helped the Irish to a 20-5 record and trip to sectional play. 

Brooklyn Liegel of Richland Center helped coach Steve Board and the Hornets finish with a 20-3 record this season. The Minnesota State Moorhead recruit averaged 19.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 2.8 steals and 1.2 blocks per game. 

Elizabeth Lutz of Marshall averaged 19.5 points, 9.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 2.4 steals per game for coach Chris Seep and the Cardinals who finished the year with a 19-6 record. 

Katie Meriggioli of Madison Edgewood helped the Crusaders take home the Gold Ball in their second state tournament appearance. The Bentley University recruit averaged 15.1 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.1 steals per game as a senior. 

Madelyn Neff of Hayward led the Hurricanes to a 20-5 record and trip to sectional play this season; averaging 17.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 2.5 steals and 1.2 blocks per game for coach Joe Brennan and the Hurricanes. As a sophomore, she helped Hayward capture the D3 state title.
